Government Notifies Salary Increase for Employee
On July 10, 2024, the Government of Pakistan, through its Finance Division (Regulations Wing), issued an Office Memorandum announcing the Grant of Adhoc Relief Allowance-2024 for Federal Government Employees. This new allowance, effective from July 1, 2024, provides a much-needed financial boost to various categories of federal employees, including Armed Forces Personnel, Civil Armed Forces, Civil Employees, and civilians paid from Defence Estimates.
Key Details of the Adhoc Relief Allowance-2024
The Adhoc Relief Allowance-2024 is designed to support federal employees and is distributed as follows:

For Employees in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 1 to 16:
- Allowance Rate: 25% of the Running Basic Pay.

For Employees in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 17 to 22:
- Allowance Rate: 20% of the Running Basic Pay.
This allowance will be subject to income tax and includes several important provisions:
- The allowance will be admissible during leave and the entire period of leave preparatory to retirement (LPR), except during extraordinary leave.
- It will not be considered part of emoluments for calculating pension/gratuity and house rent recovery.
- Employees posted or deputed abroad will not receive this allowance during their tenure abroad. However, upon repatriation, they will receive the allowance at the rate and amount applicable had they not been posted abroad.
Additionally, the term "Basic Pay" for the purpose of this allowance includes any personal pay granted due to annual increments beyond the maximum of the existing pay scales.
Budgetary Provisions
The Adhoc Relief Allowance-2024 will be accommodated within the budgetary allocation for the fiscal year 2024-25. The respective accounts and departments are responsible for managing these allocations, and no supplementary grants will be provided for this purpose.
