The Department for Educational Development (DED) serves as the center of educational activities and trainings for the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) which comprises of Medical College, School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM), Aga Khan University (AKU) as well as other national and international institutions. The aim of the department is to promote excellence in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education through academic programmes, courses and other faculty development initiatives.
The position is based in Karachi, Pakistan.
Responsibilities: The Chair will provide dynamic academic leadership to the department and fulfil its research, academic and service mandate, consistent with the mission and vision of AKU.1-he Chair will also be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic vision for the department, ensuring effective delivery of the educational strategy of FHS, implementation of educational programmes in line with international standards, faculty development, promotion of research, and collaboration with other stakeholders to meet the department's overall mandate.
Requirements: • MBBS/MD or equivalent degree in health sciences, with preferably postgraduate qualification such as Masters or PhD in medical education. • Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor, and experience in a senior management role. • Strong interpersonal skills, notable achievements in scholarship programmes, as well as experience in academic administration.
